Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

Cartoon lessons can now be learned on campus in Kerala. Kerala Cartoon Academy and Rajagiri College of Management and Sciences in Kochi have joined hands to implement the project. Although the country is famous for cartoon art, this is the first time that such an initiative has been undertaken in colleges.  Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath and Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Science Principal Dr. Lali Mathew signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard. Kerala Cartoon Academy Vice Chairman and Academy Convener Anoop Radhakrishnan, Ratheesh Ravi, Rajagiri College English Department representatives Geethu Johny, Dr. Neha Ani Varghese, Dr. Anju Maria Sebastian, Amala Manavalan and T. A. Subair also attended the function. The function held at the Minister's office in the Kerala Legislative Assembly was attended by Academy member and Trithala MLA Shri V. T. Balram, Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheernath, Secretary A. Kerala Cartoon Academy honored its member Davinchi Suresh at the annual general meeting held in Ernakulam. The chief guest, Father Justin Kaipadampadan, Managing Director of Sathyadeepam, draped him with a ceremonial shawl. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath presented a memento. Secretary A. The 45th Annual General Meeting of the Kerala Cartoon Academy was held at Sathyadeepam Hall in Ernakulam. Sathyadeepam Managing Director Father Justin Kaipadampadan was the chief guest. At the meeting, chaired by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath, Secretary A. Satheesh presented the report, and Treasurer Sajeev Balakrishnan presented the accounts. An amendment to the Kerala Cartoon Academy constitution was also presented at the general meeting and received approval.   Toon Craft Season 2 Season 2 of the two-day skill development cartoon camp, organized exclusively for members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Thottumukham YMCA on the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva. Academy Executive Committee member and cartoonist Ratheesh Ravi served as the camp director. Thirty-nine members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy participated in the camp. The two-day skill development camp, led by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was organized as a prelude to the Election Cartoon Exhibition. On the first day, March 21, K. **Cartoonist P. K. Manthri Remembered in the Capital** Ahead of the elections, with a discussion seeking the future direction of Kerala, its people, and cartoons, the book *P. K. Manthri*, containing the memoirs and cartoons of P. K. Manthri, was released when his daughter-in-law, Alli Sinilal Manthri, presented copies to those on the dais. P. K. Mantri Cartoon Exhibition On February 22, Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian inaugurated a month-long exhibition of selected political cartoons by the renowned cartoonist P. K. Mantri at the Cartoonist Shankar Memorial Cartoon Museum Gallery in Kayamkulam. In our country, there are ministers and former ministers. Manthri, a pride of the Malayalam cartoon world, were handed over by his daughter-in-law Alli Sinilal and family members to Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairperson Sudheer Nath on January 28, 2026, at their home in Kulanada, Pandalam. Live caricature drawing at the International Handicrafts Fair. Live caricature drawing was conducted at the 13th edition of the International Handicrafts Fair SIACF, held at Sargaalaya in Vadakara from December 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, in collaboration with the Kerala Cartoon Academy. The program was coordinated by Jayaraj T. G., a member of the Kerala Cartoon Academy. Jayaraj T. G. presented caricatures of Tourism Minister Riyas and Member of Parliament Shafi Parambil. Suresh Eriyat is now a Cartoon Academy Icon Suresh Eriyat, a native of Tripunithura who has won the Annecy Crystal Award—the Oscar of the animation world—twice and has received the National Film Award for animation films three times, was conferred the Kerala Cartoon Academy Icon title on December 29, 2025. The title was presented by his father, P.N.K. Panikkar, at a home-style ceremony held at Kedaram House in Vadakkekotta, the residence of Suresh Eriyat in Tripunithura. Panikkarettan, a major cartoon character with a huge fan following across the country, is the central character in Suresh Eriyat’s animation series *Kandittundu*. Live caricature drawing was held at the Muchiri Art Gallery during the Muziris Beach Fest at Munakkal, Azhikode, Kodungallur, from December 23 to 31, 2025, with the cooperation of the Kerala Cartoon Academy. The program was led by Da Vinci Suresh. Sajeev Balakrishnan, Santhosh T. Live Caricature Drawing at the Cultural Congress As part of the Cultural Congress held in Ernakulam, artists from the Kerala Cartoon Academy drew live caricatures free of charge on December 20, 21, and 22, 2025. Cartoonists sketched visitors' caricatures free of cost at the venue in Ernakulam Subhash Park and at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi venue. Noushad, Caritoon Director of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was released at the 2025 edition of Comic Con by M. A. Professor G. Somanathan Memorial Held Under the leadership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, in collaboration with the Department of Malayalam, S.N. College, Kollam, and the S.N. College Students’ Union, Kollam, a memorial function for Professor G. Somanathan was held on December 19, 2025. At the event held in the seminar hall of S.N. College, Kollam, the memorial lecture was delivered by film actor and former S.N. College student M. Mukesh, MLA. Mukesh said that G. M. S. Mohanachandran Receives Distinguished Membership On December 19, 2025, at a memorial function for Professor G. Somanathan organized jointly by the Department of Malayalam, S.N. College, Kollam, and the S.N. College Students' Union, Kollam, senior cartoonist M. S. Mohanachandran, a disciple of Professor G. Somanathan, was awarded distinguished membership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy by film actor and S.N. College alumnus M. Mukesh, MLA. എം. എസ്. മോഹനചന്ദ്രന് വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്ത്വം 2025 ഡിസംബര്‍ 19ന് കൊല്ലം എസ്.എന്‍ കോളേജ് മലയാള വിഭാഗത്തിന്‍റെയും, കൊല്ലം എസ്.എന്‍ കോളേജ് വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി യൂണിയന്‍റെയും,  സഹകരണത്തില്‍ 2025 ഡിസംബര്‍ 19ന് പ്രൊഫസര്‍ ജി സോമനാഥന്‍റെ അനുസ്മരണ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പ്രൊഫസര്‍ ജി സോമനാഥന്‍റെ ശിഷ്യനായ മുതിര്‍ന്ന കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് എം. എസ് മോഹനചന്ദ്രന് ചലചിത്ര താരവും, എസ്.എന്‍ കോളേജ് പൂര്‍വ്വ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയുമായ എം മുകേഷ് എം.എല്‍.എ കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നല്‍കി.
