Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

Anjan KCA Icon On August 17, 2015, Anjan Satheesh was officially declared the icon of the Kerala Cartoon Academy at a ceremony held at the Ernakulam Town Hall. Anjan Satheesh, a member of the Academy, is a person who overcame physical limitations through his cartoons, dreams, and hard work. He is a vibrant presence at all the events of the Cartoon Academy. MLA Hibi Eden presented Anjan Satheesh with a certificate of appreciation. Children's Kalam The Kerala Cartoon Academy organized a program on 2015 August 17 at Ernakulam Town Hall to pay tribute to former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam through drawings. The event was held in collaboration with the Kochi Corporation, the CBSE School Management Association, the Centre for Empowerment and Enrichment, and the Information and Public Relations Department. An exhibition of caricatures and cartoons of Dr. Kalam drawn by children from various schools in the district was also held as part of the program. Under the leadership of Academy members Suresh Da Vinci and Jose Joseph, artworks of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam created by various artists were exhibited. A live painting session featuring portraits of Dr. Kalam by artist Swapna Augustine, who overcame physical limitations, along with B. Tribute to Joy Kulanada On August 16, 2015, senior cartoonist Joy Kulanada was honored with honorary membership by the Kerala Cartoon Academy. At a public function held at 6 p.m. at Sreevatsam Hall in Kulanada, the Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, presented Joy Kulanada with the Academy's honorary membership. At the ceremony, presided over by the Academy Chairman, senior journalist Thomas Jacob, Dr. Gangadharan, MLA Sivadasan Nair, cartoonist Sukumar, M. S. Mohana Chandran, Anil Vega, E. P. Peter, Sathyadev, and others spoke. Joy Kulanada, who had also served as the former Vice Chairman of the Cartoon Academy, is one of the rare cartoonists who gained worldwide recognition by transcending language barriers through his silent cartoons.
