 The Government of India's Department of Posts issued two commemorative postage stamps on July 31, 1991, honoring the legendary cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai. These stamps, valued at ₹4.00 and ₹6.50, featured two of his famous cartoons. They were released to celebrate his significant contributions to Indian political cartooning and child welfare. At a ceremony held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Chief Minister K. Karunakaran released the Cartoonist Shankar commemorative stamps by presenting them to Kerala Cartoon Academy Secretary Raju Nair.
