Cartoonist Shankar commemorative stamp release function @ Trivandrum

 The Government of India's Department of Posts issued two commemorative postage stamps on July 31, 1991, honoring the legendary cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai. These stamps, valued at ₹4.00 and ₹6.50, featured two of his famous cartoons. They were released to celebrate his significant contributions to Indian political cartooning and child welfare. At a ceremony held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Chief Minister K. Karunakaran released the Cartoonist Shankar commemorative stamps by presenting them to Kerala Cartoon Academy Secretary Raju Nair. Cartoonist Yesudasan was the chief guest at the function.

ഇന്ത്യ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തപാല്‍ വകുപ്പ്, ഇതിഹാസ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റായ കെ. ശങ്കര്‍ പിള്ളയെ ആദരിച്ച് രണ്ട് സ്മാരക തപാല്‍ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ 1991 ജൂലൈ 31-ന് പുറത്തിറക്കി. 4.00 രൂപയുടേയും, 6.50 രൂപയുടേയും മൂല്യമുള്ള ഈ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകളില്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ പ്രശസ്തമായ രണ്ട് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രീയ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിംഗിനും ബാലക്ഷേമത്തിനും അദ്ദേഹം നല്‍കിയ സമധഗമായ സംഭാവനകളെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നതിനായാണ് ഇവ പുറത്തിറക്കിയത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ കേരള മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി കെ.കരുണാകരന്‍ കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി സെക്രട്ടറി രാജു നായര്‍ക്ക് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് ശങ്കര്‍ സ്മാരക സറ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ നല്‍കി പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്യുന്നു. കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് യേശുദാസന്‍ ചടങ്ങില്‍ മുഖ്യ അതിഥിയായിരുന്നു.
