Two-Day Cartoon Camp for Children On August 24, the Kerala Cartoon Academy and Chavara Cultural Centre jointly launched a two-day cartoon camp for children. The camp was inaugurated in the morning by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad. Chavara Cultural Centre Director Fr. Anil Philip CMI presided over the function. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath delivered the welcome address, and Secretary A. Satheesh gave the vote of thanks. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Vice Chairman Eby Joseph extended his greetings. Academy Vice Chairman Sajeev Balakrishnan served as the camp director. Sixty children from different parts of Kerala participated in the camp. Ratheesh Ravi, Prathapan Pulimath, and Surendran Varachal conducted classes on the first day. Honorary Membership Conferment The Kerala Cartoon Academy honored five senior cartoonists by conferring honorary membership on them at a public meeting held on August 2, 2024, at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery in Ernakulam. The cartoonists honored with honorary membership were Aravindan, Sivan Paravoor, K. R. Raghu, E. P. Peter, and G. Hari. The honorary memberships were presented by Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan. 43rd Annual General Meeting The annual general meeting of the Kerala Cartoon Academy was held on August 22 at 10 a.m. Sixty-seven members participated. At the meeting, chaired by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudhir Nath, Secretary A. Satheesh presented the report. Treasurer Advocate P. U. Naushad presented the accounts. The annual meeting was inaugurated by Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Chairperson Murali Cheeroth was the chief guest. 43 ാം വാര്‍ഷിക പൊതുയോഗം ആഗസ്റ്റ് 22 ന് രാവിലെ 10 ന് കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമിയുടെ വാര്‍ഷിക പൊതുയോഗം കൂടി. 67 അംഗങ്ങള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ സുധീര്‍ നാഥിന്‍റെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്ന യോഗത്തില്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി എ സതീഷ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ട്രഷറര്‍ അഡ്വക്കേറ്റ് പി യു നൗഷാദ് കണക്കുകള്‍ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് വി. ഡി. സതീശനായിരുന്നു വാര്‍ികയോഗം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തത്. കേരള ലളിത കലാ അക്കാദമി ചെയര്‍പേഴ്സണ്‍ മുരളി ചീരോത്ത് മുഖ്യാതിഥിയായിരുന്നു. 

Caricature Challenge The Caricature Challenge was held at the Kerala High Court on August 22 at 1:15 PM. The two-day Caricature Challenge organized in the High Court premises to support Wayanad received a good response. Kerala High Court Chief Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque inaugurated the program. The event was organized jointly by the Academy for Advanced Legal Studies and Training and the Kerala Cartoon Academy. Judges Ziyad Rahman A.A., Manu S., Advocate General K. Gopalakrishna Kurup, Additional Director of Prosecution Gracious Kuriakose, and State Attorney N. Manoj Kumar participated in the event. The caricatures were drawn by Ratheesh Ravi, B. Sajeev, Anjan Satheesh, Sajeev Sooranad, Vinu S., Girish M.P., M.R. Rajan, Jayaraj T.G., Ananthu C.B., Cartoon Academy Secretary A. Satheesh, and Treasurer Adv. P.U. Naushad. Film and Television Award Winners Honored At the inauguration venue of Carittoon 2024, organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, on August 21, film and television award winners Joshy Benedict, Sumangala (daughter of cartoonist Sukumaran), and State Television Award winner B. Sajeev were honored by ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Dr. S. CariToon 2024 CariToon 2024, organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held from August 21 to 25, 2024, at Ernakulam Durbar Hall Art Gallery, the Kerala High Court, and Chavara Cultural Centre. Academy member and renowned caricaturist Ratheesh Ravi was the director of CariToon 24. CariToon began on 21-08-2024 at 12 noon with a traditional feast attended by ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath. At 4:00 PM, Dr. S. Somanath officially inaugurated CariToon 2024 at the Ernakulam Durbar Hall Art Gallery. The event was organized until August 25 with the cooperation of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and Chavara Cultural Centre. It attracted considerable attention as it was held ahead of the national celebration of the first anniversary of India’s Chandrayaan success and National Space Day in Delhi on August 23. Cartoon Exhibition As part of CariToon, a cartoon exhibition was held at the Ernakulam Durbar Hall Art Gallery from August 21 to 25, 2024. The Space Cartoon Exhibition curated by ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Divakaran Receives Distinguished Membership On August 2, 2024, Divakaran, a cartoonist and painter leading a retired life in Kannur, was presented with the Distinguished Membership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy by Kadannappally Ramachandran, Minister for Registration, Museums and Archaeology and MLA of Kannur, at a simple function held at his residence. The Kerala Cartoon Academy conferred the Distinguished Membership on Divakaran in recognition of his significant contributions to the fields of cartooning and painting. The function was presided over by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath. Senior journalist Venkitesh Ramakrishnan, artist Mahesh Maroli, J. P. K. A. Gafoor Receives Distinguished Membership On August 2, 2024, the Kerala Cartoon Academy honored cartoonist and painter K. A. Gafoor, who is leading a retired life in Uduma, Kasaragod, by awarding him distinguished membership. Uduma MLA C. H. Kunhambu presented the distinguished membership on behalf of the Kerala Cartoon Academy.After receiving the honor, Gafoor said that he had two sweethearts: one was a childhood companion and the other was his fiancée. The childhood companion was literature, and the fiancée was cartooning. He added that although he was deeply interested in literature, it was M. T. Vasudevan Nair who made him a cartoonist.The ceremony, held at Gafoor’s residence in Uduma, was attended by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath, Academy Treasurer Noushad P. Chellan Receives Distinguished Membership On August 1, 2024, the Kerala Cartoon Academy conferred Distinguished Membership on senior cartoonist Chellan. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath personally visited his home in Kottayam and presented the Distinguished Membership to cartoonist Chellan. The honor was awarded in recognition of the overall contributions of cartoonist Chellan (T.P. Philip) to the field of cartooning, having drawn for various publications over a long period and left a distinct mark on Kerala’s art scene.
