K. A. Gafoor Receives Distinguished Membership

On August 2, 2024, the Kerala Cartoon Academy honored cartoonist and painter K. A. Gafoor, who is leading a retired life in Uduma, Kasaragod, by awarding him distinguished membership. Uduma MLA C. H. Kunhambu presented the distinguished membership on behalf of the Kerala Cartoon Academy.After receiving the honor, Gafoor said that he had two sweethearts: one was a childhood companion and the other was his fiancée. The childhood companion was literature, and the fiancée was cartooning. He added that although he was deeply interested in literature, it was M. T. Vasudevan Nair who made him a cartoonist.The ceremony, held at Gafoor’s residence in Uduma, was attended by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath, Academy Treasurer Noushad P. U., cartoonist T. M. Anwar Sadath Thalangara, Aravind Payyannur, Mujeeb Ahmed, and others. Gafoor Master’s brother, Mohammed Ali, former president of the Uduma Panchayat, also attended the event.The Kerala Cartoon Academy awarded distinguished membership to K. A. Gafoor in recognition of his significant contributions to the fields of cartooning and painting.

കെ. എ. ഗഫൂറിന് വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം

2024 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 2ന് കാസര്‍ഗോഡ് ഉദുമയില്‍ വിശ്രമ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്ന കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റും ചിത്രകാരനുമായ കെ. എ ഗഫൂറിന് കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നല്‍കി ആദരിച്ചു. ഉദുമ എം. എല്‍.എ. സി.എച്ച് കുഞ്ഞാമ്പു കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമിക്ക് വേണ്ടി വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നല്‍കി. തനിക്ക് രണ്ട് കാമുകിമാരുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നും ഒന്ന് ബാല്യകാല സഖിയും, മറ്റൊന്ന് മുറപ്പെണ്ണും ആയിരുന്നു. ബാല്യകാല സഖി സാഹിത്യവും, മുറപ്പെണ്ണ് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണും. സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ തത്പരനായ എന്നെ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റാക്കിയത് എം.ടി വാസുദേവന്‍ നായരാണെന്ന് വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം സ്വീകരിച്ച ശേഷം ഗഫൂര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. ഉദുമയിലെ ഗഫൂറിന്‍റെ വീട്ടില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ സുധീര്‍ നാഥ്, അക്കാദമി ട്രഷറര്‍ നൗഷാദ് പി.യു, കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് ടി.എം. അന്‍വര്‍ സാദാത്ത് തളങ്കര, അരവിന്ദ് പയ്യന്നൂര്‍, മുജീബ് അഹമ്മദ്,  തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. കെ. എ. ഗഫൂര്‍ മാഷിന്‍റെ സഹോദരനും ഉദുമ മുന്‍ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് മുഹമ്മദ് അലിയും ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ ചിത്രകലാ രംഗത്ത് നല്‍കിയ മഹത്തായ സംഭാവനകള്‍ കണക്കിലെടുത്താണ് കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി കെ. എ ഗഫൂറിന് വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം നല്‍കിയത്.

  Toon Craft Season 2 Season 2 of the two-day skill development cartoon camp, organized exclusively for members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Thottumukham YMCA on the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva. Academy Executive Committee member and cartoonist Ratheesh Ravi served as the camp director. Thirty-nine members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy participated in the camp. The two-day skill development camp, led by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was organized as a prelude to the Election Cartoon Exhibition. On the first day, March 21, K. Unnikrishnan, former chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and a senior cartoonist, spoke on the topic “The Journey of a Line,” discussing the stories behind cartoons and their origins. Kerala Cartoon Academy honored its member Davinchi Suresh at the annual general meeting held in Ernakulam. The chief guest, Father Justin Kaipadampadan, Managing Director of Sathyadeepam, draped him with a ceremonial shawl. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath presented a memento. Secretary A. Satheesh and Treasurer B. Sajeev Balakrishnan extended their greetings and witnessed the ceremony, along with prominent cartoonists from Kerala. The Kerala Cartoon Academy honored Davinchi Suresh in recognition of his unique achievements in the field of visual arts across one hundred different media. Davinchi Suresh is an artist who has brought his own responses to numerous social issues that occurred in Kerala over the past ten years before the public through his sculptural artworks.
