Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

K.S. Pillai Memorial and Award Presentation A memorial meeting to honor K.S. Pillai, the pride of Malayalam cartoon art, was convened at the Kollam Press Club on April 30, 2008, the anniversary of his passing. The meeting, held in cooperation with the Kollam Press Club, was presided over by Press Club President Sreejith K. Variyar. Cartoonist Sukumar delivered the K.S. Pillai Memorial Lecture. The K.S. Pillai Award was presented posthumously to Professor G. Somanathan. Mrs. Somanathan and their daughter Smita Somanathan received the award from Adv. M. M. Monayi, Chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy. Dr. B. A. Rajakrishnan, M. S. Mohanachandran, Thomson, and Smita Somanathan also spoke at the event. The award was instituted by cartoonist Sukumar in memory of his mentor, K.S.
