TVG Menon Conferred Distinguished Membership On November 25, 2015, senior member TVG Menon was honored with Distinguished Membership by the Kerala Cartoon Academy. T.V.G. Menon, who draws under the name "Menon," is a cartoonist who has created a distinct identity through his unique style. Known for his English cartoons that combine humor and thought, which he shares on social media, he received the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi's Honorable Mention Award for cartoons in 2005 and 2011. The ceremony, held at the Durbar Hall Art Gallery in Ernakulam, was inaugurated by Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain. During the event, presided over by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Prasannan Anikkad, Mayor Soumini Jain presented the Academy's Distinguished Membership to TVG Menon. Cartoon Salute on National Press Day Every year on November 16, the Press Council of India celebrates National Press Day. In 2015, for the first time in history, the Kerala Cartoon Academy received an official invitation to the event. November 16, 2015, was truly a day for cartoons at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, a venue that has witnessed numerous national and international events. The occasion was the National Press Day celebration organized by the Press Council of India. It was dedicated to the memory of the late eminent cartoonists R. K. Laxman and Rajinder Puri. Throughout the ceremony, a large screen above the stage continuously displayed brief biographies and major cartoons of both artists. The theme of that year's National Press Day was the importance and influence of cartoons and caricatures as a medium for expressing opinions.
