Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

State Cartoon and Caricature Competition: In the state cartoon competition organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy for school students, Nikhil Chandran, Najma Mansoor, and Praveen Prasad won the first, second, and third prizes respectively. In the caricature competition, Jomin John, Athul Bilhari, and Abhishek P won the first, second, and third prizes respectively. The theme for the cartoon competition was the Panchayat elections, while the theme for the caricature competition was Malayalam cinema's Harikrishnans, actors Mammootty and Mohanlal. On the occasion of Children's Day, the Kerala Cartoon Academy honored senior cartoonist Toms at a function held on November 14, 2010, at Al-Ameen School, Edappally. The real-life characters who became famous through the cartoon *Boban and Molly* were also honored at the event. The day-long program was inaugurated by the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary, T. K. A. Nair. Activities for children included a cartoon workshop and a live cartoon competition. The valedictory function was attended by Cultural Affairs Minister M. A. Baby, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany, Additional Solicitor General T. P. M. Ibrahim Khan, actor Vinu Mohan, and MLA M. M. Monayi, among others. The *Cartoon Handbook*, prepared by young cartoonist Badusha and published by the Cartoon Academy, was released by Cultural Affairs Minister M. A.
