Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

  On August 22, 2010, in recognition of the talents of Sajeev, a member of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and India's fastest cartoonist, a special event titled *Uthradapachil* was organized at Thrikkakara on the day of Uthradam. A family gathering of cartoonists was also held there on the same day. It was during this event that cartoonist Sajeev qualified for inclusion in the Limca Book of Records by drawing 652 caricatures continuously over 12 hours. Among those who attended the event were Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran, Charles Dias MP, M. M. Monayi, K. Babu MLA, cartoonists Toms, Yesudasan, P. V. Krishnan, Siri, Nathan, and more than 45 other cartoonists, as well as T. P. M. Ibrahim Khan and film actors Janardhanan, Vinu Mohan, Govindankutty, Ponnamma Babu, and others. The Kerala Cartoon Academy organized the first death anniversary of senior cartoonist Thomas at the IMA Hall in Ernakulam on August 19, 2010. Cartoonists and admirers of Thomas Chettan, including K.M. Roy, John Paul, Jassie Gift, and Dr. K.S. David, gathered for the event. During the ceremony, the Kerala Cartoon Academy released the book *Life and Works of Cartoonist Thomas*. On August 18, 2010, a delegation comprising Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman, cartoonist Prasannan Anikkad, Secretary Sudheer Nath, and Vice Chairmen Balu, Sathyadev, and Uday Shankar met the Prime Minister in person and requested that a National Cartoon Museum be established. Kerala Cartoon Academy's request and project proposal were handed over to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh by Secretary Sudheer Nath. A one-day cartoon workshop was organized on August 15, 2010, at Kerala House in Delhi under the joint auspices of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and Janasamskruthi. Prominent cartoonists from Kerala and Delhi participated in the workshop. Cartoonist Sudheer Nath served as the camp director. The Prime Minister's Principal Secretary, T. K. A. Nair, was the chief guest at the workshop. In addition to Academy Chairman and cartoonist Prasannan Anikkad, Vice Chairmen Balu and Sathyadev, participants included Gopi Gajwani, Kak, Sudhir Tailang, Uday Shankar, Chander, Rana, R. Prasad, Balakrishnan Aanatt, Ajith Narayan, Prashanth A. V., and others. T. N. The Kerala Cartoon Academy, jointly with the Sooranad North Grama Panchayat and the PTA of Sooranad Government Higher Secondary School, organized a one-day district cartoon workshop on August 1, 2010, at the hall of Sooranad Government Higher Secondary School. At the Kollam cartoon workshop, renowned cartoonists including Toms, Sukumar, Nathan, S. Mohan, Prasannan Aanikkad, Sajeev, Suresh N., Abba Vazhoor, and Shaji Mathew, along with office bearers and members of the Cartoon Academy and other prominent cartoonists, participated and shared their experiences.
