Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

On October 27 and 28, 2007, the Cartoon Camp held in Kannur was inaugurated by film actor Vinu Mohan, who drew a cartoon of Mahatma Gandhi. Senior cartoonist P. V. Krishnan was the camp director. Cartoonists Toms, Balu, Peter, Seeri, Prasannan Anikkad, Surendran Varichal, Jayaraj Velloor, Sudhirnath, Jayaram, Thomson, and others spoke at the camp. Because of a hartal (general strike), the camp was concluded by noon on the first day, but it became lively on the second day. Pannyan Raveendran, MP, and Kadannappally Ramachandran (MLA), among others, visited the camp and encouraged the children, making it a rare and memorable experience. An exhibition of cartoons featuring Mahatma Gandhi as the central character, organized by the Kannur Information Department, was a special treat for both the camp participants and the visitors.
