 The 123rd Birth Anniversary of Cartoonist Shankar The 123rd birth anniversary of cartoonist Shankar, who is regarded as the doyen of Indian cartooning, was celebrated in his birthplace on July 31. Kayamkulam MLA U. Prathibha and Municipal Chairperson P. Shashikala participated in the remembrance ceremony and floral tribute jointly organized by the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and the Kerala Cartoon Academy at the Shankar Memorial Cartoon Museum in Krishnapuram, Kayamkulam. Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Secretary A.B.M. Joseph and Cartoon Academy Secretary A. Satheesh delivered the main commemorative speeches. A.B.N. Joseph said that Nehru was a person who accepted criticism, whereas Indira Gandhi eventually developed a tendency to turn away from criticism. Anti-Drug Cartoon Competition

Anti-Drug Cartoon Competition The Kerala Cartoon Academy and the All India Malayali Association (AIMA) jointly organized an anti-drug cartoon competition for school and college students as well as young cartoonists. Cash awards of ₹10,000, ₹7,500, and ₹5,000 were presented to the winners in the junior and senior categories who secured first, second, and third places respectively. In addition, trophies, certificates, and book kits were also awarded to the winners. Those who secured positions from fourth to tenth received certificates and book kits. Certificates were given to all participants. The selected cartoons will be exhibited in various schools and colleges across the state under the leadership of the Kerala Police's Student Police Cadet program. Office bearers of the Kerala Cartoon Academy served as the preliminary jury.
