Kerala Cartoon Academy Events

To mark the 25th anniversary of the death of cartoonist P. K. Mantri, a memorial meeting was organized at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on December 6, 2009, the anniversary of his passing. The function was inaugurated by Cultural Affairs Minister M. A. Baby. Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran, film actor Jagathy Sreekumar, journalist K. A. Francis, Pandalam Sudhakaran, Academy Secretary Sudheer Nath, Vice Chairmen E. P. Peter and V. R. Sathyadev, and Mantri's son Sinilal Mantri spoke at the event. Senior cartoonists Sukumar, P. V. A memorial event for cartoonist and artist Shankarankutty was held on December 5, 2009, at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club with the cooperation of the Shankarankutty Memorial Trust. The meeting, presided over by Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Prasannan Anikkad, was inaugurated by Minister C. Divakaran. The President's Secretary, Christy Fernandes, was the chief guest. The Shankarankutty Memorial Book Cover Award was presented to Devaprakash. Film actor N. L. Balakrishnan, cartoonist P. V. Krishnan, Thiruvananthapuram Press Club President M. M. Subair, Academy Secretary Sudhir Nath, Vice Chairman Sathyadev, and Harikrishnan participated in the event. Mrs. Shankarankutty and their children also attended the function. An interview conducted years earlier by G.
