Cartoonist Shankar commemorative stamp released @ Delhi

The Government of India's Department of Posts issued two commemorative postage stamps on July 31, 1991, honoring the legendary cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai. These stamps, valued at ₹4.00 and ₹6.50, featured two of his famous cartoons. They were released to celebrate his significant contributions to Indian political cartooning and child welfare. At a ceremony held in Delhi, Vice President Shankar Dayal Sharma released the Cartoonist Shankar commemorative stamps. K. R. Narayanan was the chief guest at the function.

ഇന്ത്യ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തപാല്‍ വകുപ്പ്, ഇതിഹാസ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റായ കെ. ശങ്കര്‍ പിള്ളയെ ആദരിച്ച് രണ്ട് സ്മാരക തപാല്‍ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ 1991 ജൂലൈ 31-ന് പുറത്തിറക്കി. 4.00 രൂപയുടേയും, 6.50 രൂപയുടേയും മൂല്യമുള്ള ഈ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകളില്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ പ്രശസ്തമായ രണ്ട് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രീയ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിംഗിനും ബാലക്ഷേമത്തിനും അദ്ദേഹം നല്‍കിയ സമധഗമായ സംഭാവനകളെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നതിനായാണ് ഇവ പുറത്തിറക്കിയത്. ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ ഉപരാഷ്ട്രപതി ശങ്കര്‍ ദയാല്‍ ശര്‍മ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് ശങ്കര്‍ സ്മാരക സറ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്യുന്നു. കെ ആര്‍ നാരായണന്‍ ചടങ്ങില്‍ മുഖ്യ അതിഥിയായിരുന്നു.
