Children's Kalam

The Kerala Cartoon Academy organized a program on 2015 August 17 at Ernakulam Town Hall to pay tribute to former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam through drawings. The event was held in collaboration with the Kochi Corporation, the CBSE School Management Association, the Centre for Empowerment and Enrichment, and the Information and Public Relations Department. An exhibition of caricatures and cartoons of Dr. Kalam drawn by children from various schools in the district was also held as part of the program.

Under the leadership of Academy members Suresh Da Vinci and Jose Joseph, artworks of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam created by various artists were exhibited. A live painting session featuring portraits of Dr. Kalam by artist Swapna Augustine, who overcame physical limitations, along with B. Sajeev, Anjan Satheesh, and Academy Executive Committee member Suresh Da Vinci, attracted considerable attention.

Academy Vice Chairman K. Unnikrishnan presided over the event. Prof. K.V. Thomas, MP, former MP P. Rajeev, Adv. T.P.M. Ibrahim Khan, and Federal Bank CSR Head Raju Hormis attended the program. Joint Secretary Manoj Mathassery delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Mary Anita proposed the vote of thanks.

മുന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രപതി ഡോ.എ.പി.അബ്ദുള്‍ കലാമിന് വരകളാല്‍ പ്രണാമം അര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്ന പരിപാടി കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി ആഗസ്ത് 17ന് എറണാകുളം ടൗണ്‍ ഹാളില്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. കൊച്ചി കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍, സി.ബി.എസ്.ഇ സ്കൂള്‍ മാനേജ്മെന്‍റ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍, സെന്‍റര്‍ ഫോര്‍ എംപവര്‍മെന്‍റ് ആന്‍റ് എന്‍റിച്ച്മെന്‍റ്, ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ ആന്‍റ് പബ്ലിക് റിലേഷന്‍ വകുപ്പ് എന്നിവയുടെ സഹകരണത്തോടെയായിരുന്നു പരിപാടി. ജില്ലയിലെ വിവിധ സ്കൂളുകളിലെ കുട്ടികള്‍ വരച്ച കലാം കാരിക്കേച്ചര്‍ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണുകളുടെ പ്രദര്‍ശനവും ഇതോടൊപ്പം നടന്നു. അക്കാദമി അംഗങ്ങളായ സുരേഷ് ഡാവിഞ്ചി, ജോസ് ജോസഫ് എന്നിവരുടെ നേത്യത്വത്തില്‍ വിവിധ കലാകാരന്‍മാരുടെ ഡോ.എ.പി.അബ്ദുള്‍ കലാമിന്‍റെ വരകള്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. ശാരീരികമായ പരിമിതികളെ നിഷ്പ്രഭയാക്കിയ ചിത്രകാരി സ്വപ്നാ അഗസ്റ്റിന്‍, ബി സജ്ജീവ്, അന്‍ജന്‍ സതീഷ്, അക്കാദമി നിര്‍വ്വാഹക സമിതി അംഗം സുരേഷ് ഡാവിഞ്ചി എന്നിവര്‍ നടത്തിയ തത്സമയ കലാം ചിത്രരചന ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധ പിടിച്ചു പറ്റി.   അക്കാദമി വൈസ് ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ കെ.ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന്‍ അധ്യക്ഷനായിരുന്നു. പ്രൊഫ.കെ.വി.തോമസ് എം.പി, മുന്‍ എംപി പി.രാജീവ്, അഡ്വ.ടി.പി.എം ഇബ്രാഹിംഖാന്‍, ഫെഡറല്‍ ബാങ്ക് സി.എസ്.ആര്‍ ഹെഡ് രാജു ഹൊര്‍മീസ് എന്നിവര്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ജോ. സെക്രട്ടറി മനോജ് മത്തശ്ശേരി സ്വാഗതവും ഡോ. മേരി അനിത നന്ദിയും പറഞ്ഞു.

  Toon Craft Season 2 Season 2 of the two-day skill development cartoon camp, organized exclusively for members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Thottumukham YMCA on the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva. Academy Executive Committee member and cartoonist Ratheesh Ravi served as the camp director. Thirty-nine members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy participated in the camp. The two-day skill development camp, led by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was organized as a prelude to the Election Cartoon Exhibition. On the first day, March 21, K. Unnikrishnan, former chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and a senior cartoonist, spoke on the topic “The Journey of a Line,” discussing the stories behind cartoons and their origins. Kerala Cartoon Academy honored its member Davinchi Suresh at the annual general meeting held in Ernakulam. The chief guest, Father Justin Kaipadampadan, Managing Director of Sathyadeepam, draped him with a ceremonial shawl. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath presented a memento. Secretary A. Satheesh and Treasurer B. Sajeev Balakrishnan extended their greetings and witnessed the ceremony, along with prominent cartoonists from Kerala. The Kerala Cartoon Academy honored Davinchi Suresh in recognition of his unique achievements in the field of visual arts across one hundred different media. Davinchi Suresh is an artist who has brought his own responses to numerous social issues that occurred in Kerala over the past ten years before the public through his sculptural artworks.
