Toon Craft Season 2
Season 2 of the two-day skill development cartoon camp, organized exclusively for members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Thottumukham YMCA on the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva. Academy Executive Committee member and cartoonist Ratheesh Ravi served as the camp director. Thirty-nine members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy participated in the camp. The two-day skill development camp, led by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was organized as a prelude to the Election Cartoon Exhibition.
On the first day, March 21, K. Unnikrishnan, former chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and a senior cartoonist, spoke on the topic “The Journey of a Line,” discussing the stories behind cartoons and their origins. This was followed by the release of the book *Vimatha Shabdangal* (“Voices of Dissent”), written by Adv. Haridas Balakrishnan. On the topic “The Cartoonist’s Toolbox,” Ratheesh Ravi interacted with camp participants, introducing cartooning tools ranging from traditional early-era instruments to modern digital tools, with practical examples. On the topic “Fundamentals and Techniques of Cartoon Drawing,” Prathapan Pulimath, Da Vinci Suresh, Vinu S., Anoop Radhakrishnan, Sajeev Balakrishnan, Saneesh Divakaran, Jyothish Vembayam, Surendran Varachal, Manoj Mathassheril, and others engaged in discussions with the participants. The program “Cartoonist Talk” featured participants explaining the ideas, processes, and backgrounds of their own creations. During this session, the cartoons of all participants were displayed on a screen. The participants themselves took part in discussions by critiquing and appreciating each cartoon.
The second day of the Aluva camp began with a discussion program titled “Varamozhi,” featuring an exhibition of cartoons by recipients of awards from the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and the State Media Cartoon Awards. K. Unnikrishnan, A. Satheesh, Anoop Radhakrishnan, Ratheesh Ravi, K.V.M. Unni, Subhash Kalloor, Manoj Mathassheril, Madhoos, Dinraj, Harish Mohan, and other award-winning cartoonists discussed their works. On the topic “Alternative Possibilities in the Art of Cartooning,” Saneesh Divakaran spoke about the story of his growth in the field of art. On the topic “Editorial Cartoons and Contemporary Issues,” Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairperson Sudheer Nath delivered a presentation accompanied by a slideshow. The final session, “Digital Cartooning,” was conducted jointly by Prathapan Pulimath, Rajan Aranmula, Jyothish Vembayam, and Ratheesh Ravi. Mementos were presented to all camp participants by senior cartoonist E. P. Peter, camp director Ratheesh Ravi, Academy Chairperson Sudheer Nath, and Secretary A. Satheesh.

കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി അംഗങ്ങള്ക്ക് മാത്രമായി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച രണ്ടുദിവസത്തെ നൈപുണ്യ വികസന കാര്ട്ടൂണ് ക്യാമ്പ് സീസണ് രണ്ട് 2026 മാര്ച്ച് 21, 22 തീയതികളില് ആലുവ പെരിയാറിന്റെ തീരത്ത് തോട്ടുമുഖം വൈ.എം.സി.എയില് നടന്നു. അക്കാദമി നിര്വാഹക സമിതി അംഗം കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് രതീഷ് രവിയായിരുന്നു ക്യാമ്പ് ഡയറക്ടര്. 39 കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി അംഗങ്ങളാണ് ക്യാമ്പില് പങ്കെടുത്തത്. തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പ്രദര്ശനത്തിനു മുന്നോടിയായിട്ടായിരുന്നു കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള രണ്ടുദിവസത്തെ നൈപുണ്യ വികസന ക്യാമ്പ് നടന്നത്. ആദ്യ ദിവസമായ മാര്ച്ച് 21ന് കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി മുന് ചെയര്മാനും മുതിര്ന്ന കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റായ കെ. ഉണ്ണിക്യഷ്ണന് 'വര വന്ന വഴി' എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് കാര്ട്ടൂണുകളുടെ പിന്നിലെ കഥ, അവയുടെ പിറവി എന്നിവയെ കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ചു. തുടര്ന്ന് അഡ്വ: ഹരിദാസ ് ബാലകൃഷ്ണന് രചിച്ച 'വിമത ശബ്ദങ്ങള്' എന്ന പുസ്തക പ്രകാശനം നടന്നു. 'വരയുടെ ആയുധ പെട്ടി' എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് കാര്ട്ടൂണ് വരയ്ക്കുവാനുള്ള ആദ്യകാല പരമ്പരാഗത ടൂളുകള് മുതല് ഡിജിറ്റല് ടൂളുകള് വരെ സോദാഹരണസഹിതം പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊണ്ട് രതീഷ് രവി ക്യാമ്പ് അംഗങ്ങളുമായി സംവദിച്ചു. 'കാര്ട്ടൂണ് വരയിലെ അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്, ടെക്നിക്കുകള്' എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് പ്രതാപന് പുളിമാത്ത്, ഡിവിഞ്ചി സുരേഷ്, വിനു എസ്, അനൂപ് രാധാകൃഷ്ണന്, സജ്ജീവ് ബാലകൃഷ്ണന്, സനീഷ് ദിവാകരന്, ജ്യോതിഷ് വെമ്പായം, സുരേന്ദ്രന് വാരച്ചാല്, മനോജ് മത്തശ്ശേരില്, തുടങ്ങിയവര് ക്യാമ്പ് അംഗങ്ങളുമായി സംവാദം നടത്തി. 'കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് ടോക്ക്' എന്ന പരിപാടിയില് ക്യാമ്പ് അംഗങ്ങള് സ്വന്തം സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആശയം പ്രക്രിയ പശ്ചാത്തലം എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് വിശദീകരിക്കുന്ന സംവാദ പരിപാടിയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എല്ലാ ക്യാമ്പ് അംഗങ്ങളുടെയും കാര്ട്ടൂണുകള് സ്ക്രീനില് പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിച്ചായിരുന്നു ഈ പരിപാടി. ക്യാമ്പ് അംഗങ്ങള് തന്നെ ഓരോ കാര്ട്ടൂണുകളിലും വിമര്ശിച്ചും, അഭിനന്ദിച്ചും ചര്ച്ചയില് പങ്കെടുത്തു.
ആലുവ ക്യാമ്പിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ദിവസം ആരംഭിച്ചത് 'വരമൊഴി' എന്ന പേരില് കേരള ലളിതകലാ അക്കാദമിയുടേയും സംസ്ഥാന മാധ്യമ കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അവാര്ഡ് ലഭിച്ചവരുടെ കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പ്രദര്ശിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള സംവാദ പരിപാടിയിലാണ്. കാര്ട്ടൂണില് വിവിധ അവാര്ഡുകള് ലഭിച്ച കെ. ഉണ്ണിക്യഷ്ണന്, എ. സതീഷ്, അനൂപ് രാധാക്യഷ്ണന്, രതീഷ് രവി, കെ.വി.എം. ഉണ്ണി, സുഭാഷ് കല്ലൂര്, മനോജ് മത്തശ്ശേരില്, മധൂസ്, ദിന്രാജ്, ഹരീഷ് മോഹന്, എന്നിവര് അവരുടെ സൃഷ്ടിയെപ്പറ്റി സംവാദിക്കുന്ന പരിപാടിയായിരുന്നു നടന്നത്. 'കാര്ട്ടൂണ് കലയിലെ വേറിട്ട സാധ്യതകള്' എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് സനീഷ് ദിവാകരന് തന്റെ കലാ രംഗത്തെ വളര്ച്ചയുടെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് സംസാരിച്ചു. 'എഡിറ്റോറിയല് കാര്ട്ടൂണ് സമകാലീന വിഷയങ്ങളും' എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി ചെയര്പേഴ്സണ് സുധീര്നാഥ് സ്ലൈഡ് ഷോ പ്രസന്റേഷനോടെ സംസാരിച്ചു. 'ഡിജിറ്റല് കാര്ട്ടൂണിങ്' എന്ന അവസാന സെഷന് പ്രതാപന് പുളിമാത്ത്, രാജന് ആറന്മുള, ജ്യോതിഷ് വെമ്പായം, രതീഷ് രവി എന്നിവര് ചേര്ന്നാണ് നടത്തിയത്. എല്ലാ ക്യാമ്പുകള്ക്കും സ്മരണിക മുതിര്ന്ന കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് ഇ. പി. പീറ്റര്, ക്യാമ്പ് ഡയറക്ടര് രതീഷ് രവി, അക്കാദമി ചെയര്പേഴ്സണ് സുധീര്നാഥ്, സെക്രട്ടറി എ. സതീഷ് എന്നിവര് സമ്മാനിച്ചു.
