All Kerala Humour Arts Council

In 1967, in Kochi, cartoonists Thomas, Shivaram, Mantri, and artist Raghavan Nair, among others, organized a gathering with the participation of cartoonist Kutty, who had come home from Delhi to spend his vacation. An organization called the All Kerala Humour Arts Council was formed then, and the gathering held that day was called the All Kerala Humour Arts Council Conference. They went to the famous Krishnan Nair Studio in Ernakulam, had a photograph taken, and got the news along with the photograph published in newspapers as the All Kerala Humour Arts Council Conference. (The photograph taken then is attached with this note.) That gathering was the first cartoonists’ gathering not only in Malayalam but in all of India. After that one-day event, the All Kerala Humour Arts Council became inactive.

1967ല്‍ കൊച്ചിയില്‍ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് തോമസ്, ശിവറാം, മന്ത്രി, ആര്‍ട്ടിസ്റ്റ് രാഘവന്‍ നായര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ ദില്ലിയില്‍ നിന്ന് അവധി ചിലവിടാന്‍ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് കുട്ടിയെ പങ്കെടുപ്പിച്ച് ഒരു കൂട്ടായ്മ ഒരുക്കി. അഖില കേരള ഹാസ്യ കലാ പരിഷത്ത് എന്ന സംഘടന അന്ന് രൂപീകരിക്കുകയും, അവരന്ന് നടന്ന കൂട്ടായ്മയെ അഖില കേരള ഹാസ്യ കലാ പരിഷത്ത് സമ്മേളനം എന്ന് വിളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എറണാകുളത്തെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്യഷ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍ സ്റ്റുഡിയോയില്‍ ചെന്ന് ഫോട്ടോ എടുപ്പിച്ച് വാര്‍ത്ത സഹിതം അഖില കേരള ഹാസ്യ കലാ പരിഷത്ത് സമ്മേളനം പത്രങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. (അന്നെടുത്ത ഫോട്ടോ ഈ കുറിപ്പോടൊപ്പം). ആ കൂട്ടായ്മയാണ് മലയാളത്തിലെ എന്നല്ല ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തന്നെ ആദ്യ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് കൂട്ടായ്മ. അന്നത്തെ ഒറ്റ ദിവസത്തെ പരിപാടിയോടെ അഖില കേരള ഹാസ്യ കലാ പരിഷത്ത് പ്രവര്‍ത്തനരഹിതമായി.
