Kerala Varma's Centenary

The centenary celebrations of Kerala Varma, a giant in the Indian cartooning field, commenced on September 22, 2024, at Udayamperoor S.N.D.P. Higher Secondary School. The event was jointly organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy and the AKG Memorial Rural Library. Former Chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, Adv. M. M. Monayi, delivered the Kerala Varma memorial lecture. The centenary celebration of cartoonist Kerala Varma will continue for one year. At the function, presided over by T. Raghuvaran, patron of the AKG Memorial Rural Library, artist Binuraj Kalapeetham delivered the welcome address and library secretary Rajesh expressed the vote of thanks. Vice Chairmen of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, Sajeev Balakrishnan and Anoop Radhakrishnan, Treasurer Adv. P. U. Noushad, writer Vennala Mohanan, branch committee president L. Santhosh, and Vanaja Varma also spoke at the event.

കേരളവര്‍മ്മയുടെ  -ജന്മശതാബ്ദി 

ഇന്ത്യന്‍ കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ രംഗത്തെ  അതികായന്‍ കേരളവര്‍മ്മയുടെ  -ജന്മശതാബ്ദി ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് 2024 സെപ്തംബര്‍ 22ന്  ഉദയംപെരൂര്‍ എസ്. എന്‍. ഡി. പി ഹയര്‍ സെക്കന്‍ട്രി സ്കൂളില്‍ തുടക്കമായി. കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമിയും, എകെജി സ്മാരക ഗ്രാമീണ ഗ്രന്ഥശാലയും സംയുക്തമായാണ് പരിപാടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്. കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി മുന്‍ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ അഡ്വ. എം. എം. മോനായി കേരള വര്‍മ്മ അനുസ്മരണ പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. ഒരു വര്‍ഷം നീണ്ടുനില്‍ക്കുന്നതാണ് കാര്‍ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് കേരളവര്‍മ്മ ജന്മശതാബ്ദി ആഘോഷം. എകെജി സ്മാരക ഗ്രാമീണ ഗ്രന്ഥശാല രക്ഷാധികാരി ടി. രഘുവരന്‍ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച ചടങ്ങില്‍ ചിത്രകാരനായ ബിനുരാജ് കലാപീഠം സ്വാഗതവും ഗ്രന്ഥശാല സെക്രട്ടറി രാജേഷ് നന്ദിയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു. ചടങ്ങില്‍ കേരള കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ്‍ അക്കാദമി വൈസ് ചെയര്‍മാന്‍മാരായ സജീവ് ബാലകൃഷ്ണന്‍ ,  അനൂപ് രാധാകൃഷ്ണന്‍, ട്രഷറര്‍ അഡ്വ പി യു . നൗഷാദ് , എഴുത്തുകാരന്‍ വെണ്ണല മോഹനന്‍, ശാഖാ യോഗം പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് എല്‍. സന്തോഷ്, വനജാ വര്‍മ്മ എന്നിവര്‍ ചടങ്ങില്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു.

  Toon Craft Season 2 Season 2 of the two-day skill development cartoon camp, organized exclusively for members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was held on March 21 and 22, 2026, at the Thottumukham YMCA on the banks of the Periyar River in Aluva. Academy Executive Committee member and cartoonist Ratheesh Ravi served as the camp director. Thirty-nine members of the Kerala Cartoon Academy participated in the camp. The two-day skill development camp, led by the Kerala Cartoon Academy, was organized as a prelude to the Election Cartoon Exhibition. On the first day, March 21, K. Unnikrishnan, former chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy and a senior cartoonist, spoke on the topic “The Journey of a Line,” discussing the stories behind cartoons and their origins. Kerala Cartoon Academy honored its member Davinchi Suresh at the annual general meeting held in Ernakulam. The chief guest, Father Justin Kaipadampadan, Managing Director of Sathyadeepam, draped him with a ceremonial shawl. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman Sudheer Nath presented a memento. Secretary A. Satheesh and Treasurer B. Sajeev Balakrishnan extended their greetings and witnessed the ceremony, along with prominent cartoonists from Kerala. The Kerala Cartoon Academy honored Davinchi Suresh in recognition of his unique achievements in the field of visual arts across one hundred different media. Davinchi Suresh is an artist who has brought his own responses to numerous social issues that occurred in Kerala over the past ten years before the public through his sculptural artworks.
