Thomas Jacob conferred honorary membership
Kerala Cartoon Academy conferred honorary membership on Thomas Jacob.
The honorary membership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy was presented to senior journalist Thomas Jacob on June 11, 2023. The honorary membership was handed over by K. A. Francis, former chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi and a painter, at a simple ceremony held at Jacob’s residence in Kottayam. Thomas Jacob, who entered the media field with the ambition of becoming a cartoonist, later made profound contributions to journalism, creating a history without parallel. Although he did not remain actively involved in cartoon drawing, he provided significant encouragement for the growth of cartoon art in Kerala. Kerala Cartoon Academy Chairman K. Unnikrishnan, Academy Executive Committee members Baiju Paulose and V. R. Sathyadev, and senior members E. P. Peter, Prasannan Anikkad, Sudhirnath, and Manoj Mathasseriyil also attended.

കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമിയുടെ വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം മുതിര്ന്ന മാധ്യമപ്രവര്ത്തകന് തോമസ് ജേക്കബിന് 2023 ജൂണ് 11ന് സമ്മാനിച്ചു. കോട്ടയത്തെ വസതിയില് നടന്ന ലളിതമായ ചടങ്ങില് കേരള ലളിതകലാ അക്കാദമി മുന് ചെയര്മാനും ചിത്രകാരനുമായ കെ. എ. ഫ്രാന്സിസാണ് വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വം കൈ മാറിയത്. കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റാകാനായി മാധ്യമ രംഗത്തെത്തിയ തോമസ് ജേക്കബ് പില്ക്കാലത്ത് പത്രപ്രവര്ത്തന മേഖലയില് കാതലായ സംഭാവനകള് നല്കിയത് സമാനതകളില്ലാത്ത ചരിത്രമാണ്. കാര്ട്ടൂണ് രചനയില് തുടര്ന്ന് സജീവമായില്ലെങ്കിലും കേരളത്തിലെ കാര്ട്ടൂണ് കലയുടെ വളര്ച്ചയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം വലിയ പ്രോത്സാഹനം നല്കി. കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് കെ. ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന്, അക്കാദമി നിര്വ്വാഹക സമിതി അംഗങ്ങളായ ബൈജു പൗലോസ്, വി. ആര്. സത്യദേവ്, മുതിര്ന്ന അംഗങ്ങളായ ഇ .പി .പീറ്റര്, പ്രസന്നന് ആനിക്കാട്, സുധീര്നാഥ്, മനോജ് മത്തശ്ശേരിയില് എന്നിവരും പങ്കെടുത്തു.
