Star Cartoonist Competition
The Kerala Cartoon Academy and Toonz Animation jointly decided to present the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Star Cartoonist Award. For this purpose, a state-level cartoon competition was conducted, inviting participants aged between 15 and 25 through postal mail and email. The theme of the preliminary round of the Star Cartoonist Competition was **"Corruption in Public Life."** The age limit was 15 to 25 years. A total of 250 participants from different parts of the state took part in the competition.
On January 25, 2016, at the Bharat Tourist Home Hall, the 25 participants selected from among them were given a short training session in cartoon drawing, followed by a live competition. At the discussion held before the competition, Minister K. Babu, P. V. Krishnan, Academy Chairman Prasannan Aanikkad, Vice Chairman K. Unnikrishnan, Secretary Sudheer Nath, Joint Secretary Manoj Mathassery, Toonz Academy Executive Director (Retd.) Wing Commander M. Narayanan, and Toonz Chief Animator Vinod Kumar spoke.
