Granting of Distinguished Membership to B. G. Varma
On May 24, 2015, senior cartoonist B. G. Varma, a colleague of Shankar, was honored at a function held at the Ernakulam Press Club Hall. At the event, presided over by the Chairman of the Cartoon Academy, Malayala Manorama Editorial Director Thomas Jacob conferred the Distinguished Membership of the Kerala Cartoon Academy on him. Renowned writer N. S. Madhavan, Oscar winner Resul Pookutty, Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi Secretary Vaikom Shibu, Press Club President Ravikumar, Cartoon Academy Vice Chairman K. Unnikrishnan, Secretary Sudhir Nath, and Joint Secretary Manoj Mattassery spoke at the function. B. G. Varma's wife delivered the reply speech. Varma's daughter, Academy members, and journalists also attended the event. A week-long exhibition of B. G. Varma's cartoons was also held at the Press Club Gallery.
