Shankarankutty Memorial Book Cover Award
A memorial meeting for the cartoonist and artist Shankarankutty was held at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on December 1, 2010, in association with the Shankarankutty Memorial Trust. The meeting, presided over by Cartoon Academy Chairman Prasannan Anikkad, was inaugurated by Minister Binoy Viswam. The chief guest, renowned film director Shaji N. Karun, presented the fourth Shankarankutty Memorial Book Cover Award to Zainul Abideen. Professor C. R. Omanakuttan, cartoonists Toms and Sukumar, Academy Secretary Sudhirnath, and Harikrishnan also participated in the event.
Zainul Abideen received the award for the book covers he designed for *Islamika Rashtreeyam Vimarshikkappedunnu* ("Islamic Politics Is Criticized") by M. N. Karassery, published by Mathrubhumi, and *Manushyan Oru Aamukham* ("A Preface to Man") by Subhash Chandran, published by DC Books. The award was decided by a committee comprising Dr. M. Leelavathi, Professor C. R. Omanakuttan, and V. B. Lasitha.
കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റും ആര്ട്ടിസ്റ്റുമായ ശങ്കരന്കുട്ടി അനുസ്മരണം ശങ്കരന്കുട്ടി സ്മാരക ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ സഹകരണത്തോടെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം പ്രസ്സ് ക്ലബ്ബില് 2010 ഡിസംബര് 1 തീയതി നടന്നു. കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് പ്രസന്നന് ആനിക്കാടിന്റെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതയില് ചേര്ന്ന യോഗത്തില് മന്ത്രി ബിനോയ് വിശ്വം ചടങ്ങ് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. മുഖ്യാഥിതി പ്രശസ്ത ചലചിത്ര സംവിധായകന് ഷാജി എന് കരുണ്, നാലാമത് ശങ്കരന്കുട്ടി സ്മാരക പുസ്തക കവര് അവാര്ഡ് സൈനുല് ആബീദിന് സമ്മാനിച്ചു. പ്രാഫസര് സി ആര് ഓമനകുട്ടന്, കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്ററ് റ്റോംസ്, സുകുമാര്, അക്കാദമി സെക്രട്ടറി സുധീര്നാഥ്, ഹരികൃഷ്ണന് എന്നിവര് ചടങ്ങില് പങ്കെടുത്തു. മാത്യഭൂമി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച എം എന് കാരിശ്ശേരിയുടെ ഇസ്ലാമിക രാഷ്ട്രീയം വിമര്ശിക്കപെടുന്നു, ഡിസി ബുക്സ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച സുഭാഷ് ചന്ദ്രന്റെ മനുഷ്യന് ഒരു ആമുഖം എന്നീ പുസ്തകങ്ങള്ക്ക് ഒരുക്കിയ കവറുകളാണ് സൈനുല് ആബീദിന് അവാര്ഡ് നേടികൊടുത്തത്. ഡോ എം ലീലാവതി, പ്രാഫസര് സി ആര് ഓമനകുട്ടന്, വി ബി ലസിത എന്നിവരടങ്ങിയ കമ്മറ്റിയാണ് അവാര്ഡ് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചത്.
