Aniyug 2009
Aniyug 2009, the second Cartoon-Animation Fest organized with the aim of opening up opportunities for cartoonists in the growing field of animation, was held on February 5 and 6 at the EMS Library, Thrikkakara, across two venues. Seminars, discussions, and interactive sessions were conducted at Venue One, while cartoon and animation films were screened at Venue Two. Aniyug 2009 was jointly organized by the Kerala Cartoon Academy and the Department of Information and Broadcasting.
As humorous and thought-provoking characters filled the screen without the glamour of movie stars, the festival offered animation students a unique new experience. The event highlighted the limitless possibilities of animation and the latest animation technologies. More than forty animation films were screened over the two-day festival. Seminars explaining the technical aspects of animation and an open forum were also organized.
The renowned film director Sashi Paravoor was the director of Aniyug. Film actor Bharat Mammootty inaugurated Aniyug 2009. Eminent Indian cartoonists including Kaak, Prashant Kulkarni, Chandar, Uday Shankar, Trayambak Sharma, and Professor Shivaprakash, along with noted film personalities such as Mukesh, Robin Thirumala, Tiny Tom, Govindankutty, K. R. Meera, Nisha Sarang, and Seema P. Nair, as well as prominent animators including Ramakrishnan (In Creation), Vinod A. S. (Toonz), Binu Raj (Toonz), Cyber, Vinoj, and Anuraj, participated in the event and spoke about various aspects of the animation industry.
