In 2007, cartoonist Thomas was given a reception in his hometown.
On the evening of September 3, the Academy honored veteran cartoonist Thomas at Venkateswara Hall in Paravur. Accompanied by the beats of traditional chenda drums, he was ceremonially escorted to the stage. The meeting, chaired by Paravur MLA V. D. Satheesan, was inaugurated by renowned journalist T. V. R. Shenoy. Dr. Sebastian Paul (MP), Prof. K. V. Thomas (MLA), Paravur Municipal Chairman Adv. M. A. Ali, Federal Bank General Manager (Public Relations) Raju Hormis, Paravur Press Club President Premkumar, Reception Committee Convener Surendran, cartoonists Sukumar, Yesudasan, Serry, Academy Chairman Adv. M. M. Monayi, Secretary Sudhir Nath, and Prasannan Aanikkad also addressed the gathering.
Cartoonist Yesudasan draped Thomas with a ceremonial shawl. A gift from *Malayala Manorama* and a caricature prepared by cartoonist Sajeev were also presented to Thomas at the function. Cartoonist Thomas delivered the reply speech. An exhibition of Thomas's cartoons was also organized as part of the event.
