The Kerala Cartoon Academy and the British Council organized a one-day cartoon workshop for young cartoonists on the theme of global warming and climate change on March 3, 2010, at Bharat Tourist Home, Ernakulam. Thirty-five selected young cartoonists from South India, including three women, participated in the one-day workshop, which was attended by national and international cartoonists. Renowned British cartoonist Michael Bonza Ozdowiscki led the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by S. R. Sakthidharan, Chairman of the Kerala Press Academy, at a function presided over by Prasannan Anikkad, Chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academy. C. N. Karunakaran, Chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, was the chief guest. Dr. Gujral and Jacob, representatives of the British Council, along with Sudheer Nath, Secretary of the Cartoon Academy, addressed the gathering.
Many prominent personalities participated in the workshop, including cartoonists Sukumar, Siri, T. V. R. Shenoy, artist T. Kaladharan, and actor Vinu Mohan. A cartoon competition based on the themes of global warming and climate change was also conducted.
കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമിയും, ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കൗണ്സിലും യുവ കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റുകള്ക്കായി ആഗോള താപനവും കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനത്തെയും അടിസ്ഥാനപ്പെടുത്തി ഏകദിന കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പഠന ക്യാമ്പ് 2010 മാര്ച്ച് 3ന് എറണാകുളം ഭാരത് ടൂറിസ്റ്റ് ഹോമില് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ദേശിയ അന്തര്ദേശിയ കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റുകള് പങ്കെടുത്ത ഏകദിന കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പഠന ക്യാമ്പില്, മൂന്ന് വനിതകളടക്കം തെക്കേ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത 35 യുവ കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റുകള് പങ്കെടുത്തു. പ്രശസ്ത ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് മൈക്കിള് ബോണ്സാ ഒസ്ഡോവിസ്ക്കി കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പഠന ക്യാമ്പിന് നേത്യത്ത്വം നല്കി. കേരള കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് പ്രസന്നന് ആനിക്കാടിന്റെ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷതയില് ചേര്ന്ന ചടങ്ങില് കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പഠന ക്യാമ്പ്, കേരള പ്രസ്സ് അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് എസ്. ആര്. ശക്തീധരന് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. കേരള ലളിത കലാ അക്കാദമി ചെയര്മാന് സി. എന്. കരുണാകരന് മുഖ്യ അഥിതിയായിരുന്നു. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കൗണ്സില് പ്രതിനിധികളായ ഡോ ഗുജ്റാള്, ജേക്കബ്, കാര്ട്ടൂണ് അക്കാദമി സെക്രട്ടറി സുധീര്നാഥ് എന്നിവര് സംസാരിച്ചു. കാര്ട്ടൂണിസ്റ്റ് സുകുമാര്, സീരി, ടി.വി.ആര്. ഷേണായ്, ആര്ട്ടിസ്റ്റ് ടി. കലാധരന്, നടന് വിനുമോഹന് തുടങ്ങി ഒട്ടേറെ പ്രമുഖര് കാര്ട്ടൂണ് പഠന ക്യാമ്പില് പങ്കെടുത്തു. ആഗോള താപനവും കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനത്തെയും അടിസ്ഥാനപ്പെടുത്തി കാര്ട്ടൂണ് മത്സരവും നടത്തി.
